Nice to see this not turn into a Google Wave like situation where a few of us get beta invites & the general public has to wait 35 years before joining.
If ou go to the upgrade storage page it'll tell you all about it. Bottom line is as long as you maintain you account at the 80GB you won't pay more. If it ever lapses you'll be stuck with the new plans.
Dear .. I am sorry but you can not call it Drive. Drive is a place where I see ALL ALL my stuff. UNLESS GMAIL AND GOOGLE READER AND YOUTUBE AND AND ARE DIFFERENT COMPANIES.
When the pop up Google Drive I SHOULD SEE MY GOOGLE MUSIC AND CAN PLAY THEM. I SHOULD SEE MY STARTED ITEM FROM GOOGLE READER AT LEAST. I SHOULD SEE MY EMAILS. I SHOULD SEE MY FAV FROM YOUTUBE. I SHOULD SEE MY ANDROID DEVICE AND CONTROL THEM.
TRULY .. THIS IS NOT WHAT I HAVE EXPECT IT FROM YOU GOOGLE EVEN IF IT'S THE BEGINNING.
PLEASE PLEASE GOOGLE LET'S HAVE ALL THE CLOUD STUFF IN ONE PLACE(DRIVE).
On the contrary, a Google Drive that really gives you access to all your cloud storage in one place makes the case for having and using Chrome OS significantly stronger. The possibility of 3rd party apps now using it too is a really significant advancement.
Will using the cloud service allow me to store select software that I frequent at times when working on clients computers., instead of lugging around numerous software discs.?
Will you be adding the possibilty to sync folders and files outside of the Google Drive folder? This would be great to sync things like My Documents/Pictures/Music folders, game configs/savegames, etc.
Great job on having 18 partners and the SDK available on launch day, not months later (or never).
ReplyDeleteWill Google Drive Tie Together Their Collaboration Portfolio?
Well done. I look forward to testing it.

ReplyDeleteimmediately need dropbox to drive tool :P
ReplyDeleteAs easy and copy-and-paste between the desktop folders if you have the sync tools installed (and don't need to maintain shared links, folders, etc...)
Deletegr88 job..bye bye Dropbox and never used SkyDrive.. :)
ReplyDeleteI just don't understand Why the storage upgrade is so much expensive!!! It was just $5.00/Year for 20GB and now $2,49/Month for 25GB.
ReplyDeleteCould you clarify?
Will there be an SDK to work with Google Drive in Android apps?
ReplyDeletehttps://developers.google.com/drive/ may be a starting point... not exactly addressing your question though...
DeleteI paid 80gb to use g docs, will this storage be available within gdrive ?

DeleteThe biggest reason to choose google was the price. Now its 3x more expensive for the same amount of storage. :(
ReplyDeleteI guess i'm still grandfathered in, but still, storage should be getting cheaper, not more expensive.

Then there will be no need of a project naming Chrome OS.

ReplyDeleteI suspect that it will, as long as said client computers have access to the internet.
DeleteI've been using Dropbox to do similar things for a while now. (and am in the process of switching over to drive.)
Thanks Bill..
DeleteAppreciate the prompt reply here.!! I'll give the new drive a run here to see..
